247 children of the Liceo Aranjuez, San Jorge and Gimnasio Horizontes schools, located in Manizales, participated in the program Conoce Tu Patria (Know your country), developed by the Multimission Heroes of the Infantry Battalion no. 22 Batalla de Ayacucho, assigned to the Eighth Brigade of the Army.
The boys and girls enjoyed the teachings of the soldiers and recreational activities. In addition, they could know the facilities of this Military Unit and share stories with the Heroes of the homeland.
This initiative exposes the work carried out by the troops of the Ayacucho Battalion in the fulfillment of its institutional mission, and impacts different institutions of the Caldas department, where public and private academic scenarios are accompanied by trainings for children and adolescents in matters related to military and homeland history.
Lieutenant Colonel Juan Carlos Chaparro Chaparro, commander of the Battalion, was emphatic in his commitment and that of his troops in the development of the young men and women of the Caldas department as the best way to build roads for peace and create a culture of non-violence.
